@Jim Kilby @John JohnRigler1 @Carolyn Webber I Just want to update everyone on my latest response from Oklahoma. I emailed the Oklahoma Dept. of Libraries
State Archives Division
on Saturday. Here is my original message along with the response I got today. (I’m shocked they responded so quickly)

Hello, I am wondering what happened to the records of the Oklahoma Children’s Home Society/children’s Home finding Society/childrens aid Society that was located in Oklahoma City? It was shut down in Nov 1927/1928? The records (over 4000) were sent to the Commissioner of Charities and Corections. In the 70s that office was closed down and online info states that all records were sent to the D. O. C. , I understand inmate records being sent there but where were the Children’s records sent? I can’t seem to find very much info at all about the Oklahoma Childrens Society anywhere online. I pray you may be able to assist me. Than you so much!

Response:
The State Archives has two sets of records from the Children’s Home Society in Oklahoma City.
1) A box of petition forms, surrender forms, and court orders for the orphans at the home from 1901 to 1912.
2) A ledger of the children received in the home and where they were eventually placed for 1923-1927.
These records are sealed and can only be accessed through a court order.
The Oklahoma Historical Society has a collection of materials from the Children’s Home Society in Guthrie. They have digitized The Children’s Home Finder newsletter that covers 1901-1905. It is available online here: https://gateway.okhistory.org/search/?fq=str_title_serial:"The Children's Home Finder"
I am not sure what else OHS has, but you can contact their Research Center here: https://www.okhistory.org/research/visitor
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Glad we have a response. It sounds like their collections skip the dates we need though.

Lol I think I’m getting on their nerves here is the response I got today. I have to commend them for their quick response though! This is the response I got when asking about the gap in the records years:
There is a large gap in the records we have from the Children’s Home Society in Oklahoma City. Our administrative files do not indicate why there is a gap or another entity that might have the records.
We have been in contact with Mr. Kilby previously, and my coworker actually sent him another email yesterday. We do not have any records from 1916-1917 and we could find no mention of Lois in the records we do have from the Children’s Home Society and from the Department of Charities and Corrections. I’m sorry I could not be of more help.
Sincerely,
Alyssa Vaughn
