I am currently working on my Venezuelan family. There are many records in the 1800's that have Jph before the name. what does this mean?

Also, I have an ancestor named Maria de Jesus. It was indexed as a male, but I think this is a female name. This person was born in the 1800's.

Jsp means Joseph. Many latin priests used Joseph instead of Jose.

Maria de Jesus can refer to a female or a male. Not uncommon.
