correct way to input names to my family tree
Hi! Newbie here...I grew up speaking the Amoy dialect at home but am not 100% literate in Chinese. How should I be inputting the names of my family in my genealogy? For example, my name is 李文雅. In Amoy it sounds like "di bun nga" , in Mandarin it sounds like "li wun ya". I do have an English name though, but some of my ancestors either do or do not have English names. How should I input the names? Thanks.

Hi文雅, your Chinese name is very beautiful! :)
Everybody has their own situation of entering their names into the family tree. It is hard to say which one is the correct way. We all just need to do our best.
If you do have a Chinese name in Chinese character李文雅, it would be the first option to enter the Chinese names. It will help your relatives in China to find you as well. And Chinese Jiapu is written in Chinese characters. You could also add your English name and your ancestor's names with PINYIN spelling as well.
