Right at the top of the links on the right hand side of the Switzerland communities page is "Register of Swiss Surnames." Click on that and there is an amazing website that is so helpful if you just have a name and not a village where that person is from. Historical Dictionary of Switzerland (hls-dhs-dss.ch)
Citizenship in Switzerland is by place, so your ancestor should be in one of the towns that shows up in the early citizenship search. There are 5 places that come up with the name of Twerenbold: Entlebuch, Hasle, and Romoos in Luzern, Switzerland and Hünenberg and Cham in Zug, Switzerland. The only place that doesn't have church records that you can search is Hünenberg.
Go to Familysearch and click on the search tab, on the drop-down menu click on catalog. Type in your place and go looking for his baptism record. Remember to search a couple of years before and after. Swiss research is all about searching page by page for records. When you find his baptism record, you can go on to search for his marriage record because you will know what village to search in.
Good luck.
