What surname to look for in the eherodel and totenrodel?
I found a death record for a man who I think could be my husband’s 4th-great-grandfather. It’s in 1835 in Bern, Bern, Switzerland. Supposing this is him and he died and his wife was left a widow and she remarried, what would it be under in the new marriage record? Would she be listed under her maiden name again or under her married name? I can’t find a record of her death which makes me wonder if maybe it’s because she remarried and is under a different name.

When a widow remarries, she should be listed under her married name, and then, hopefully, her maiden name will also be given. But if you don't find her in an index under the married name, check the maiden name as well.
Remember that when she is widowed, her heimat (place of citizenship) is still that of her deceased husband's, and does not revert back to her father's heimat. So a second marriage for her should be recorded in her husband's heimat.

Thanks so much! I haven't found anything yet but I'm glad I know what direction to look in.
