That is an interesting find. It might help Jim and John if you post the link that goes with images. You are certainly fantastic at finding new pieces to the story.

The 1916 Home accounting list the home in Oklahoma City. It doesn't even mention the Guthrie home. It lists "private" institutions. I would think the Mason's home in Guthrie would be included as "private."

I posted that link several days ago lol. I’ll post again

Do you have access to 1916 OKC and Guthrie phone books. I just joined Ancestry but I didn’t see a link to old phone books.

For more than just Guthrie Phone books, check out this site with links for Guthrie:

(This site is privately owned and is not an official site of FamilySearch International or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints)

Yes that’s what I posted. No listing in Guthrie for 1916 but it was listed in OKC. Did you see the link I posted about them combining the homes?

I checked that site for something like that the other day and it tells you to contact the or visit the location that has the info

they are called city directories. Click on card catalog. In top search box type city directory then in next box put in Oklahoma... it should come up.

I only added the disclaimer because some people might not realize that it isn't a FamilySearch site. I grabbed the disclaimer from the home page of the site.

Doesn’t that mean Lois and Josephine were both in Oklahoma Children’s Home Society. That word “finding” as in “Oklahoma Children’s Home Finding Society“ is a red herring I think.

There are direct links to some of the records. I didn't check all of them, but someone has done a lot of work to find out where these items are. Some links point directly to a facility to visit, other links to a site that requires a fee, but some connect directly to a free source.
There are pages of links for other locations, this isn't just about Guthrie, Oklahoma.

Well, for the first several years (1900/1901? To 1905/1907?) the children’s Home Society published a weekly/monthly newsletter called “the children’s home finder” that may be where or how the word “find” got included in some of the articles. That’s just a guess. I used to have tons of info on the place when I thought my grandfather may have been there, and now for the life of me I can’t seem to find it 😐
