Seeking information on Edward J. Irwin who lived in Allegheny Co. Pennsylvania from apx 1850 to 1902
I do know that he e had at least one daughter (Elizabeth Agnes or Agnes Elizabeth) born 1891. She is my great-grandmother. Elizabeth/Agnes married Harry Oscar Windish in 1907 - they have one daughter (Mary Elizabeth) who is my grandmother. I've found a 1900 Census that lists Edward as being born in Ireland abt 1850 and being a widower. I've been searching for many months and cannot find any additional information (i.e., parents, spouse). Any leads are much appreciated.

I would recommend that you look at the Guided Research link in the sidebar of the Pennsylvania page on the FamilySearch Wiki at https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/GuidedResearch:Pennsylvania. You could also research Allegheny County in the FamilySearch Catalog where there are a multitude of sources at https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/results?count=20&placeId=186502&query=+place:"United States, Pennsylvania, Allegheny". There are also Pennsylvania Online Genealogical Records at https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Pennsylvania_Online_Genealogy_Records.

In the 1900 census, it shows that Edward immigrated to the states in 1850 which was when he was a baby since he was born in 1850 in Ireland. So he should be on the 1860, 1870, and 1880 census records. I tried to find him in the 1880 census which would show his wife and oldest daughter Mary E. age 8 born in Pennsylvania and the name of his wife. But I was unsuccessful to find them. Here is possibly his death record on FamilySearch.org "Pittsburgh City Deaths 1870-1905) https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939V-8PS9-6K?i=216&cc=1810412.

No luck either with Edward or Mary on the 1880 Keep researching!

What other spellings have you tried? I found my Acuna family by the surname Crescent....LONG story! But I can easily see 'Irven' or even indexing the I as a J. Then it might show up as Jruen? Just thoughts.
You might try using Ancestry and just plugging in given names for his family, not giving anyone a surname. I've found people that way sometimes.

Have you found all of Elizabeth Agnes' siblings in later censuses? Does their father, Edward live with any of them later? There might be additional information on later censuses.
One other way to look is to look for neighbors. Try searching for some of Edward's neighbors in the 1880 census to see if he is still living nearby.
