Good morning. There are birth/christening records for him in Novosedly nad Nezarkou, as that is the Catholic Parish. His birth/christening record is found here: https://digi.ceskearchivy.cz/6049/87/1729/2532/50/0. It is the bottom entry. Is this what you were searching for? Do you know how to read the old script?

Katharina Filípek states that her mother Anna is the daughter of Johann Křížek. FamilySearch has Vaclav. The birth record is in her sources.

Unfortunately, I can't read Czech at all. Blame my father. I recognize Jakob and Dobes and that's all. They lived in #8. I see that also.

Just to confirm, this is Lawrence's sister? That would be a revelation indeed. We didn't know of another sister. I wish I could read it. Even is I could read the Czech, the handwriting is terrible.

There was also a first wife. Possibly by the name Anna. No maiden name.

So is Katharina a sister to Marie or is this another name for her? Johann is a new find. We knew Anna's maiden name was Krizova. We didn't have a parent.

Sorry for not responding sooner. It's been a crazy week.

Here is some added info. There is a family rumor that Lawrence was in the seminary and left for the US because he wanted to have a family.

We also know that that was when the ownership of #8 switched the Kubell family to the Dobes family (1788).

I don't speak Czech or German but attended handwriting classes offered for free on FamilySearch. I have listed those in the links in this community. So I would recommend you start your learning curve with these classes.
Born 3 Aug 1845, christened 4 Aug 1845 Laurentz, Catholic, male, legitimate, Father: Jakob Dobesch baüer=farmer, son of deceased Andreas Dobesch baüer=farmer from Kollentz House 8 and deceased Katharina born Kübella baüer=farmer from Kollentz House 8, Mother: Maria daughter of Adelbert Fhilipek baüer=farmer from Kollentz and Anna born Kryzek baüer from Kollentz.
If you compare the entry for Anna and Laurentz you will see that the parent's information is very similar. Anna is a sister to Laurentz. You can see a cross by her given name which means she died young.
If you have any questions I would be happy to help.

As for your question: "So is Katharina a sister to Marie or is this another name for her? Johann is a new find. We knew Anna's maiden name was Krizova." The father Jacob Dobesch is the son of Andreas and Katharina. The mother Maria is the daughter of Adelbert (also known as Vojtěch) Fhilipek and Anna Kryzek. FamilySearch has the name Křyžek as Křížková. y and i are interchangeable and ova is a female ending added to females. The record has her maiden name as Křyžek. I do not understand the second of the surnames for Anna of Kolková.

I added the marriage date and place to FamilySearch for the marriage of Ondrey Dobesch and Katharina Kubel. This marriage record I posted does not contain the names of the parents.

The records are in German Script with German words. The handwriting is not so bad. Please be sure to take the handwriting classes. Go to the main page.

marriage 4 May 1785 hse 8 Andreas Dobesch Catholic age 26, Katharina Kubelowa Catholic, age 25 Witnesses
Under this marriage is another one for Jana Dobesch age 17 and Maria Kübelow age 15

So are you saying Jana and Maria are a separate entry?
0 -
Yeah, I don't know where Václav came from. It might have been added by some well meaning extraction worker. Could be a step father since there is a second last name.

Thank you so much for your help. Lets see if we can find info on Mary and Frantisek, Lawrence's sister and brother. The birthdays conflict with the mothers (Maria) age.

To find the siblings, you would go to the same recordset and go page by page after the marriage date until you find all of the family. Or you could use the indexes which are by surname.
I would appreciate it if you added all the info, sources, and translations we have found so far to FamilySearch.
Have you completed the handwriting lessons? They are essential.

There is a good possibility that Filip Jacub is your direct grandparent Jacub.

Hey Betseylee, Thanks for helping me out. I have not a lot of time lately with work, kids, and callings. I am also updating my preparedness. I am also working with my aunt on my mother's side of the family which there is a ton of work there. We were able to find a couple lines all the way back to Adam. I don't know if I can trust them, but it is kind of fun.
