I have looked through part of the Indiana document (https://memory.loc.gov/mss/mesn/050/050.pdf?content-disposition=attachment ) and found fascinating stories with much detail as well as names of former slaves, slave owners and others from individuals. However, the stories don't begin in Indiana. Note almost all slaves were freed there in 1820. This document contains stories of slaves when they lived in nearby states who later came to live in Indiana and were living in Indiana at the time of the interview.
It makes me wonder if there are any plans to index this collection? It is so massive, and so full of detail! Does anyone know if an indexing project is afoot?
