Dear Group, I have a birth/bap record for Petrus Franciscus Stevens, born August 2, 1761, Drongen. I am very interested in this record because it seems to be the first child of parents Livinius Stevens and Norbertina De Vreese (1759) AND Livinius states that he is from NAZARATH.. In the other following children he states that he is from St Martinius in Leerne. I see: August 21 1761 baptized petrum francisicusum? filium Livinius Stevens from Nazarath and Norbertina De Vreese from Drongen (married) , born today at 9 am before noon; Sponsors ( Godparents: Joannes Baptista Stevens and Petronilla De Vreese. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CS1C-4J9N?i=231&cat=342136

He is from Nazareth, just under Deinze/Baarne close to Eke; so probaly he is born under the Parish of St etc,.. but Nazareth born.

Adrie, Thank you.. the reason I asked was because there is a birth/bap record of a Livinus Stevens, son of Joannes Baptista, born 21 December, 1727 in Nazareth. He would be 32 when he got married. I did look at the map and seems close to me. I checked death and marriage records and did not find him in Nazareth, which is good. Carla

Bonsoir Clara,
"Petrum Franciscum" filium Livinus (not Livinius) ... ex Nazareth (*)"
"hodie hora 9a ante meridiem" : today at 9 a:m
"ante meridien" (before midday=morning) <> "post meridiem" (after midday=afternoon)
(*)Nazareth is a Dutch-speaking municipality in Belgium located in the Flemish Region, in the province of East Flanders.
The seigniory of Nazareth belonged to the county of Flanders and was divided into two fiefs and administratively depended on three castles: that of Courtrai, that of Audenaerde known as of Stenen man, that of Ghent known as of Oudburg.

Maybe he was born in one village, but lived most his live in the other.
I would check both Nazarath and St Martinius in Leerne to see if you find Livinus and Joannes Baptista.

Paul-Marc,
Thank you once again .. for everything!! I looked up Nazareth on English wiki, but will look at your link as well. I mainly wanted to see if it was in close proximity to where I have been researching. There are many Stevens in this community. Carla

Adrie, I did go back into records and looked at EKE. Only 1 Livinius Stevens, but he died 1719. The Nazareth records do show JOannes Baptiste Stevens married to Joanna STEUR and they had 3 children, Livinus 1727, Joannes Baptista, 1731, and carolina, 1734. As I told Paul- Marc.. I will keep him for now. Hope your day goes well tomorrow. Carla
