Thank you. Question, were baptismal sponsors usually family members or just good friends?

Baptismal sponsors/godparents/baptismal witnesses could be family members and/or friends. If you see either surname of the parents listed among the baptismal sponsors, it's likely that the sponsors are related to the parents and the child.
