Thanks!
I am a quarter Polish. My great-grandparents and great-great-grandparents immigrated to the United States, but parts of their history are in Poland, and any ancestors before them are completely in Poland. One of my struggles with Polish research is partially indexed records, which will have a date and their names, but no parent names.
I have been researching the family lines Niesluchowski, Szpojankowski, Mieszkowski, and Wyrzykowski, primarily in the Mazowieckie province.
Let's join together to welcome the newest members of the group!

Hello,
I live in Poland.
I signed into Familsearch several Yers ago (maybe ca. 10) and admire what has been achieved.
We (together with my Wife) are researching several family lines, mainly from Polish and Ukrainian territories:
Plezia (a part of direct ancestors) emigrated to USA, and a lot of further related Plezia also.
Turzański Grzymala line.
Sobieski.
I have two problems :
- I wonder if there is any way, apart from making a two way trip from Poland, to access an unaccesible on-line film from 1826 Skole (film #2329171) to locate the birth record of our direct ancestor Adolphus Turzański , born. 8th June 1826 in Korczyn / Skole.
- Concerns Sobieski line. This one is hard. I know my grandmother had several Sobieski brothers (8?). They were very probably born in Liesevitz Germany, Meklenburg in the years 1904-1925?. My grandmother was born there in 1909. Parents Pawel and Bronslawa Sobieski, emigrated from Poland to Germany, probably looking for work. In 1930 my Grandmother and her Parents returned to Poland. But no sign of her brothers. Also a quite long research in Liesewitz archives, did not discover any mention of Sobieski family. As usuall , several years ago I could have just asked …. but that is too late now. The Sobieski name is very popular, there are a lot of US citizens with such name. The brothers could have emigrated to US ca. 1925-1929, because they should probably have been of age to make the trip. The parents & sister returned to Poland and the boys travelled on. So, no first names, actually unknown number, no departure place (maybe Liesewitz), no departure date (just a probable year range), no known destination , just the Parents names are known, and the Sobieski name was and is popular, so a lot of people. I do not know how to start.
Best Regards
Krzysztof

Hello Mary Anna Ebert,
Although we are now on FamilySearch form, I think You could try out the Polish official genealogical site.
It has 60mln indexes and 14mln. scans. It is in Polish , but that You have to cope with if You research Polish ancestry.
The databases are fully indexed so it is a good place to start. And the query system is simple. You just type in the name and it shows You where in Poland it appears. You can refine the date range, and chose a region.
You can even search for two name combinations (spouses, children - parents, etc).
You can be logged in or not. I think the indexes reach back as far as the XVI cent.

So glad you joined us! With these partially-indexed records, are you able to view the original record to find the parents' names?

I'm a little confused on this film # you have given. Film #2329171 is listed as records for towns named Skałat & Cygany in Ternopil Raion which is about 3 hours drive from Korczyn / Skole currently in Stryi Raion. Are you sure that your ancestor would be in those records? I did a quick look through Film #2329171 and did not see anyone with that name or date of birth.
2. Concerns Sobieski line. This one is hard. I know my grandmother had several Sobieski brothers (8?). They were very probably born in Liesevitz Germany, Meklenburg in the years 1904-1925?…I do not know how to start.
You might start with searching the United States 1930 Census and 1940 Census for any men with the surname Sobieski. The census lists what country each person was born in and also what country their parents were born in. So, if you find a Sobieski man born in Germany with parents born in Poland…then you could research further on him to find out when he came to the United States and whether any brothers came with him.
However, with no indication that the Sobieski brothers came to the United States, you might consider posting this question in our Germany Research group to see if anyone there has any ideas of where you might research. I would think that you would want to locate their birth records in Liesevitz Germany, Meklenburg before jumping to United States research.
