Alien Property Custodian - Jun-1917
One of the men who my Croatian Grandfather many have worked with in 1917 was killed in a logging accident in Oregon JUN-1917. Anton Crnac (1880-1917) was Croatian from Racja Vas, Istria and his estate went through the Probate Court, and was worth $1600 minus expenses. About $125,000 today! As the US was at war with Austria, the proceeds were left to the "Alien Property Custodian of the United States" rather than being returned to his wife back in Austria/Croatia.
I am curious as to if his wife ever received her funds from his estate. Any suggestions on how best to do that?
