Adoptive Chinese Families and Other Qs
Hi Everyone,
I have a few questions that are mostly Chinese genealogy / ordinance related
- With adoptive children (not adoptive in the Western way, but in the ancestor veneration ritual sense), in Family Search, we link to both the biological and adoptive parents, but we seal only to the biological parents, is this correct?
- I have the names of a few people where I have the father's name and that of the father's sons, but not that of the wife/mother. Should I enter the wife/mother's name as 'Mrs. (husband's name) and have them sealed or leave the space blank?
- When a person has multiple names, is there a standard for which name should be the primary name in Family Search (e.g. should it be the one that would be included in the village poem?)
- When entering information into Family Search where there aren't dates (which is the case for 99% of the genealogy that I have), is there a standard for age gaps between people? Just curious what others are doing. I've been doing this:
- Husband + 3 years = Wife
- Wife + 20 years = first child
- first child + 2 years = second child (etc.
Thanks!
