"Answered"

I've noticed that some discussions are marked "Answered" with a checkmark. I would like to show that info on the discussions that I have been successfully helped with, but cannot see a way to do that. I'm wondering if that is done by moderators only, or am I just missing something? Thank you for any help with this that you can provide.

Hello @markbauernfeind,

If you post your request as a "New Discussion" the system will not give you the opportunity to accept the answer. You must post your request as a question in order to accept any responses.

Here's how to post your request as a question:

At the Germany Research community homepage scroll down to the heading "Discussions".

To the right of the heading "Discussions" you will see a blue box with the words "New Discussion" and a downward pointing arrow.

Click on the arrow to open the drop-down menu.

Select "Ask a Question", then post your request.

Once your request is answered, the system will give you the option to accept the response. If you are satisfied with the response, then you should accept it. Upon your acceptance of the response the system will automatically mark your question as Answered with a check-mark.

Note: Since you posted this as a question, and I have now answered, you should see a prompt to accept the question. Then this question will appear in the discussion queue with the word "Answered" and a check mark.

If you post using Ask a Question, the Answered mark is automatic. It doesn't mean the question has been answered satisfactorily, only that someone has replied.

Just to be clear: when you post your request using "Ask a Question" your question will appear in the queue with the word Question.

When one or more people respond, the word Question automatically changes to Answered [without a check mark]. This indicates that one or more people have responded to your question.

If and when you accept one or more of the responses you received, the system automatically adds the check mark to the word Answered. Of course you should only accept the response(s) if you feel they have answered your question.

For the record, the "Answered" notation and the "Best Answer" choice are two different things.
