Translation Help for Klenck Burial
This is a 1698 burial record for Andreas Klenck in the Unterheinriet, Württemberg churchbook. I have transcribed and translated some of the entry. Any further help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Cynthia McClanahan Cruz

Leichenopfer gewesen 25 hrl?Translation: ANNO 1698
On September 1, was called from the wretchedness of this world through an accidental but blessed death Andreas Klenck, citizen of Obernheinrieth, aged 34 years. Funeral text [Isaiah] chapter 60 verse 20. The Lord will be your eternal light.
Funeral sacrifice was 25 Heller?0 -
The Heller was a coin of very low value (
), lower than silver groschen. So 25 Hellers does not sound like a lot of money, but I am not entirely sure that I read the denomination correctly.1 -
I would translate Opfer as offering in this case, rather than sacrifice. The word can have both meanings, depending on context.

Wow! Ulrich Neitzel It is interesting to know that Andreas was killed in an accident. He was a "forest worker" at the time of his marriage. That could have been an hazardous occupation, at best. I love that the funeral text is included.
Funeral sacrifice of 25 Heller might be 25 silver coins paid to the officiant?
Thank you!
