Pedigree format

Not a fan of my spouse showing on different side then before…I sure hope this will not start looking like a MY Heritage tree….it's just backwards

Having a pedigree that is full of endogamy, I find this format is easier to use as I can see where the pedigree colapse are located in the full pedigree. ❤️

I really like the new format. I love how easy it is to get to the siblings. I am looking forward to using this more and giving more feedback.

Finally a chance to catch up with MyHeritage. Love the new approach.

I hope you fix it so that both views are still available after Aug and that you make it obvious how to switch and use the old view; this one is too cluttered.

I really enjoy this format. It is easy to move through the families and a very nice upgrade. I introduced it at a training for our Center and it was very well received. They are looking to seeing it roll out for them. Keep up the great work.

Thank you for your feedback. I didn't notice that my husband was on the other side of me with the new Portrait View. I have shared your observation with the engineers and I will report back to you when I hear anything.

Thank you for your feedback. The old Portrait View will end at the end of August. With technology, there are times when old software can not be updated and requires new software to replace it. But the other pedigree views will still be available.

Portrait format is poor use of space on my phone. Really like landscape format. Please keep it.

The landscape view will continue. There are no plans to change it. The discussion here is simply about the new portrait view vs. the old portrait view. The current plan is to retire the old portrait view.

I have heard back from the engineers. Having the spouses placed on different sides as in the old portrait view is not possible at this time. We apologize if it is an inconvenience but it was a necessary change.

One thing I wish would not have changed is when looking at the tree, the number of generations of expansion when you click on an individual. It used to expand three or four generations, and now it only goes one generation back and it takes a lot longer for me to go back on a line. Is there a way for me to reset that in setup?

@Lynn C. Merrell thank you for your feedback.
Clicking on the up arrow that only opens one line at a time, has been added to the Known Issues under Announcements in the Group Page. We don't have a time frame of when this will be corrected but it is on the list. Please keep an eye on the Announcements.

I am in love with the new view! It makes finding connections much faster than previously and really shortens the amount of time needed to quickly check a connection between individuals that are not myself. While a connection view similar to seeing how I am related to others would be helpful for those that are not yourself, this is certainly a vast improvement upon previously jumping up the ladder to find a common surname.

@MiltonSheralynTerry thank you for your feedback. We are happy that you love it!
I have added a request to the engineers to see if it is possible to put a link icon to the "View Relationship" either on the person's tile, or if not possible perhaps the side sheet that opens when clicking on the person in the new Portrait View. That way you wouldn't have to leave the Portrait View Page to see how you are related.
Please keep an eye on the Requests and Usibily Issues under Announcements on the Tree Pedigree Views Group Page.

I have had a response from the engineers regarding "View Relation" connection.
When you click on the person you want to view the relationship to, a side bar of that persons information will open up. Just below the birth & death information, on the left there is a star and just to the right there are two tiny boxes with a link connecting them. This is the icon for View Relation. When you click on it, it will open to show how you are related to that ancestor. When you click the back arrow in the upper left, it will take you back to the same screen you were at.
Please see my previous post to you above for an image that shows the icon to click to View Relation.

Sometimes the connecting lines overlap or crisscross each other when they don't need to. It seems to have something to do with the order in which you expand the tree. Rather than inserting the new cards and shifting the others left or right, it'll insert the cards into a random place in the next level.

@David DiGirolamo thank you for your feedback.
Right now, it is not possible to create a direct screenshot in your post. However, we do have a workaround. With this issue, it would be extremely helpful if you would use the workaround to create a screenshot using These Instructions.
We apologize for the inconvenience but if you could do this perhaps with an arrow to show where the misplaced card belongs, it would be helpful and greatly appreciated. The engineers have worked on trying to make the connecting lines clearer, but it sounds like you have found something different. I will submit this to them if you can supply a screenshot.
