EWZ Documents, Request for Salt Lake City FamilySearch Library Lookup
Dear FamilySearch Community,
My name is Andrii, and I am seeking assistance in obtaining digital copies of specific microfilms related to my grandfather, Otto Brandt. I recently visited the FamilySearch Center in Bonn, Germany, and learned that the films I am looking for are not available in digitized format online but are located at the FamilySearch Library in Salt Lake City.
The details of the films are as follows:
- Film 1806260, Image Group Number (DGS): 8285610
- Film 1806261, Image Group Number (DGS): 8280377
These films are part of the collection entitled Einwandererkartei, 1939-1945.
I am specifically looking for the EWZ documents related to Brandt Otto with the birthdate 15.08.1927 or 15.03.1927. There might be some ambiguity in the month, as it could be unclear whether it is 3 or 8.
The EWZ documents for Brandt Otto are definitely located on the film from the collection entitled Einwandererkartei, Film 1806260, Image Group Number (DGS): 8285610. However, if these documents are at the end of this film, there is a possibility that some of Brandt Otto's documents continue on the next film: Film 1806261, Image Group Number (DGS): 8280377.
I would be very grateful if someone could help by making digital copies of these documents for me. If additional information is needed or if there are any costs associated with this request, please let me know.

Yes, I know that EWZ records are also available at the Bundesarchiv.
Unfortunately, the Bundesarchiv has refused to provide me with these copies.
Therefore, I would be very grateful if someone who visits the FamilySearch Library in Salt Lake City could make digital copies of these documents.1 -
Have you looked at this article in the FamilySearch Wiki? It lists several other places where the EWZ records can be researched.

Thank you for the information. Yes, I know about these options.
However, the films I am looking for are available as follows:
- Microfilms at the FamilySearch Library in Salt Lake City: Unfortunately, these films are not digitized, so I cannot view them at the FamilySearch Library in Germany.
- Digital copies at the Bundesarchiv: Although they have digital copies, the Bundesarchiv refused to give me access.
- National Archives in the USA: These films are also available here, and I can order them for a fee. But this is my last option. If I do not get results from this community, I will contact them because it is a complicated process to buy, deliver, and digitize the films.

Next month I will be at the library and while there, I can check the film (with the numbers you provided) for the EWZ records related to your grandfather Otto Brandt. My timeline is to visit the library around the middle of July. If you need the records sooner and decide to order them from an archive, let me know. Then I will know to not check the film for you.

I am sending you an update about the EWZ documents related to your grandfather Otto Brandt. I found one document that is from a collection entitled, "Einwandererkartei,1939-1945". This is a Health Card (EWZ-57) for Otto, and I could read some of the information such as a birthdate of 15.08.1927, which is the same as the birthdate you provided. So this is good news. The case number on the health card is also important for locating the Pedigree (EWZ-58) from a collection entitled, "Stammblätter 1939-1945". I am waiting for the library staff to locate the film that is associated with the case number. After checking the film, I will let you know if I found the pedigree.

Hello Andrii,
I have been able to find records related to your grandfather Otto Brandt, and other family members, even though film containing the "Pedigree" documents is restricted by record owners, and is not available for visitors to view. I have copies of Health Card EWZ-57 documents for Otto's parents, siblings and one set of grandparents. Also, have copies of a marriage record and a Familienbuch record (from the area outside of Germany where the family had lived) for the other set of grandparents, which are available online on FamilySearch. The marriage record for Otto's parents is available online and found in the same record collection in the FamilySearch catalog.
Since the ability to upload images in the Community is not functioning, I can't send you copies of these images through the Community private message. I can send them to you via email (you would need to send an address to me through private message). There are a number of images, so I would send them in more than one email.
