John Taylor in Toronto 1917
Father to my mother Norma Marguerite born Jan 26 1017
Her birth certificate says he married Mary Hannah McConnell in England. I don't think they were married
He gave his address as 3 Dundas St in Toronto
This is all I know. Anyone know anything? ๐

The only direct connection I noticed between a John Taylor as father, Mary McConnell as mother with a marriage date of 14 June 1901 and a Margaretta Norma Taylor as daughter with a birth date of 26 Jan. 1917 was the following link Ontario, Canada Births, 1832-1917 - Ancestry.com
But also noticed the following information and wanted to verify the possible connection to your mother:
George Wesley Cooper and Mary McConnell were married in York, Ontario, Canada in 1898 Ontario. Marriage Records โข FamilySearch
In 1901 Canada Census George, Mary and Frederick Cooper are living in Halton, Ontario, Canada Canada. Census โข FamilySearch
In 1902 Vernon Carson was born to George and Mary in Halton, Ontario, Canada Ontario. Birth Registers โข FamilySearch
In 1907 Jennie May was born to George and Mary In Halton, Ontario, Canada Ontario. Birth Registers โข FamilySearch
A birth record for Helen Ruth Cooper 11 Jun 1911 in Wentworth, Ontario, Canada with an address of 170 Sanford Ave. North lists George Wesley Cooper as the father and Mary Hannah McConnell as the mother. Ontario, Canada Births, 1832-1917 - Ancestry.com
In 1924 Petition for Naturalization Mary Dignean lists her age as 68 (should be 47 or48) lists her three children Vernon and Jennie living in Toronto and Helen living with her in Massena, N.Y. St. Lawrence. Petitions for Naturalization โข FamilySearch
In 1925 New York Census it lists Mary Cooper age 47 (birth year approx. 1878) as head of household with Helen 14 and Norma 8 both as daughters born in Canada. The census listed number of years in the US as 1. New York, U.S., State Census, 1925 - Ancestry.com
If the Mary McConnell listed in the above references is your grandmother, do you know where and with whom your mother was living before the age of 8?

Randy,
Wowโฆyou have a great deal of helpful info. I cannot access the links. I am paying for MyHeritage and can't afford another right now. I will see what I can access.
I have a Port Manifest showing Mary Cooper coming into the US at Nyando NY on Jan 29 1924. It is difficult to read and the back side is nearly impossible. Looks like they were coming from Toronto, going to Massena for a "visit" an Albert Robinson (nephew). Something about a Fred Cooper, son, towards the bottom of the page.
Mr Taylor was the informant for my mother's birth certificate. Says he was married to Mary, and he was a gardener. They were married in England June 14 1901 Mother's middle name shows as Margaretta, but I have seen Margurits and Margaret a lot. The marriage in England always seemed suspect to me, and I have not run across anything where Mary used Taylor as her last name.
The ONLY information I have on Taylor is that he was a widower living in Buffalo NY, and Mary was his housekeeper. This was maybe 1915-16? When she arrived in Massena she told family that mother was a friend's child. Mother went by Cooper until she married George Bombard.
There are some things for you to consider. Are you a researcher? Or family?
I will work on this in the next few daysโ-I have a few off work.

You should be able to access the FamilySearch links for free, especially as a member of the FamilySearch Community. I suppose it might depend on Ancestry.com. After spending a little more time looking into the info./links provided above let the group know if you still have questions.
I am a volunteer and currently the Group Leader for the Canada Research Group in the FamilySearch Community.

Worst case you could sign up for a 14 day free trial if you're still having trouble accessing the ancestry.com links.

I do have to be an Ancestry member to view the records. I opted for a year of My Heritage. I'm thinking that the same records should be available, but could not find them. Giving it a rest. Sometimes things just appear when you set them aside, I have found. I can't find him in Buffalo NY either. He was quite the mystery.
Thanks for your info and insight.
