Getting access to death info in Munchen
Hello,
First post here, I'm making a research about a forced labor camp during WW2 who was located in Hanauer Strasse n°17 in Munchen / Munich.
There have been a few people who died there, and I would like to investigate this. Is there a way to access a list/index of death in Munchen betweeen 1942 and 1945? Probably the city has registered those deaths? What about cemetery records, can one consult them? If not available online, would going to Munich in person help?
Unfortunately very often I have incomplete information about people who died, sometimes I have a name but not the date, or approximative date without name, it's very incomplete. That's why I could not ask to an archivist something precise, I would have to look myself.
But I also have 7 people for whom I know the name and the exact date of birth/death. Is there a procedure to obtain death certificates? I think there is much more restriction for privacy protection in Germany than in France. In France we can access death information without any restriction, it's almost public data. But in Germany, it's much more difficult. Do they make exceptions if I can explain the research has an historic value?
Thank you!
