Where is Giber, Duezkess?
I need help with a location. I received a transcribed marriage record from a Catholic church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The birth information for the wife was transcribed as "Born: 5 April 1827 in Giber, Duezkess". I cannot find a place called Giber, Duezkess. I think it might be a phonetic spelling. Other records say she was born in Hessen. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you.

Hello @Karrie Sierra,
Do you by any chance have a copy of the original church marriage record? It would be helpful to see what was actually written in the original rather than relying on the transcription.

Hello,
I am waiting for a copy of the original church marriage record.

Yes, please post the original when you get it.
FYI: If the original record is written in English I am wondering if "Giber, Duezkess" is acutally a misinterpretation of an abbreviation for the Grand Duchy of Hesse? Just a thought on my part. We will have to wait and see.

I will definitely post the original image.
It makes sense that "Giber, Duezkess" could be the Grand Duchy of Hesse. Thank you for your help!

Hello,
Here is the original image that I received from the church archive. She said this is the best images she could get. What do you think?
Please let me know if there is a better way to post the image. Thank you!

I suspect it says Piber, Kurhessen. Piber is likely spelled something like Bieber in Hesse.
