Jacob Hemmer and Maria Weifin
Hello,
Thank you for translating the vulgo of Jacob Hemmer in the birth records of his children. That is all I need. thanks again!!
The link below the child Anna is the same link for Maria and Anna:
Fourth record on the page: May 14, 1791, House #11, Maria: parents Jacob Hemmer vulgo Halbhubler? and Maria Weifin.
Last record on the page: December 27, 1793, House #8, Anna; parents Jacob Hemmer vulgo ? in this one it doesn't look like the same vulgo as in Maria's record. Maria Weifin
Tenth record on the page: November 16, 1795, House #11, Catharina; parents Jacob Hemmer vulgo Hubler? and Maria Weifin
There are three records on this page, see the link below child Jacob:
4th record down on the page: August 4, 1798, House #11, Michael, parents Jacob Hemmer vulgo Wagner? and Maria Weifin
Seventh record on the page: February 7, 1800, House #11, Joannes N?, parents Jacob Hemmer vulgo Hiebler? and Maria Weifin
Last record on the page: July 6, 1802, House #11, Jacob, parents Jacob Hemmer vulgo Wagner? and Maria Weifin

Hello @Tammi954,
This is what I read:
Maria (1791): Halbhubler.
Anna (1793): Wagner.
Catharina (1795): Hübler.
Michael (1798): Wagner.
Joannes Nep. (1800): Hiebler?/Hübler?
Jacob (1802): Wagner.

Oh my! Different with every child. The house #11 remains the same house for the birth of all the children except for Anna's birth in house #8. At least I know the spellings now and it will help me search for Jacob and Maria's marriage record. Thank you!

Hi, Robert,
I haven't had any luck finding a marriage record for Jacob Hemmer and Maria nee Weifin. I did find a marriage record for their son Michael ... I think. Would you say that Michael's mother is Maria nee Weifin in this record?
Thank you for looking!

The mother in this record is Maria Weiß, not Weif. I suspect that it's also Weiß or Weis in the other records - the f and the long s can look similar in the old handwriting.

The mothers name is Maria Weiß (Weißin with the feminine ending) in Michael's marriage record. But I also read it as Weiß in a few of the baptismal records that you posted above. It might be Weiß in all of the baptism records but the scribe was pretty sloppy writing the surname.

You should also consider that Wagner (cartwright) and Hubler (full-size farmer) can be occupations, not just (vulgo) names. Halbhubler is a farmer of a smaller (half size) farm.

That is good news on the mother's maiden name. If you look at Michael's birth record, for the mother's maiden name, it looks like an f with the loop at the top of the letter but I am not very skilled in reading the letters. In our correspondence there have been many different spellings for occupations and names.
I am learning! Thank you for the occupation translations.

Hello, Ulrich,
I believe I found the marriage record of Jacob Hemmer and Maria Weiss(in).
Marriage date: November 10, 1789
House Number: Looks like #21
Would you please translate what it says near Jacob's name and also the witness names and occupations.
Thank you!

Hello, in addition to the above record, may I please ask for another translation of the marriage record attached below.
Marriage date: February 3, 1830
Groom: Michael Hemmer, age 31, vulgo Krinezl? Is he a widower? His father is Jacob Hemmer, a farmer in Gaisfeld and his mother is Maria nee Weiss(in). Thank you for a further translation
Bride: Maria Keinisch or is it Reinisch? age 27. Her father is Johann Keinisch or Reinisch and his wife is Margaretha Elillward? Again, thank you for translating the rest.

Regarding your question:
Would you please translate what it says near Jacob's name and also the witness names and occupations.
Note that the groom is Jakob Hammer. He is: Von Ligister Pfarr = From the Ligist parish.
The witnesses are: Matthias Ölgerl and Peter Hammer. Bauer unter Hhl. Ligist = farmer under Hhl.? Ligist.
Translation of the other marriage record:
Marriage date: February 3, 1830
Groom: Michael Hemmer, age 31, vulgo Krinezl? (or Kninzl?), farmer in Gaisfeld Is he a widower? no! His father is Jacob Hemmer, a former farmer in Gaisfeld and his mother is Maria nee Weiss(in). both deceased
Bride: Maria Keinisch or is it Reinisch? (I would say Reinisch) age 27. Her father is Johann Reinisch, master miller in Margarethen Wöllmes, parish St. Martin, and his wife is Maria Wagner(in), both still living.
The marriage vows of this bridal couple were exchanged on January 16, 1830 in the parish St. Martin at Wöllmesberg.

Thank you! Perfect! I can use the parish name to search further on Matricula for the Reinisch family.

Sorry, one more question: marriage record of Jacob Hemmer and Maria Weiss(in).
I was wondering if Jacob Hammer was a widower? I mistakenly asked the question in the wrong marriage record. It looks like there is a tick mark in the column I believe asks if he is a widower.
Thank you!

Really? That's very interesting. My family seems to be more focused in the Voitsberg area. My husband and I are planning a trip to Austria in spring 2025. Can't wait!
