Help with transcription of Kastner marriage record
I found another record in Wendelstein parish on Archion, for another generation back in my grandmother's line.
This is the marriage of my great-great-grandparents. I've got most of it transcribed, but need help again with the description of the men.
1828
Jahres - N. 10 Etats - No. 3 (see my comment below on this)
In Margin: Sorg u.[nd] Wendelstein
Cop. d. 23s Novbr.
+3 Oct 1850 (or 52?) (death date in margin next to groom’s name)
geb. 2 (or 22?) Mar 1799 (birth date in margin next to bride’s name)
Predigt ……..??
Translation:
Johann Michael Kastner, royal subject estate owner in Sorg, left-behind legitimate youngest son of the former Michael Kastner, ……? and estate owner in Sorg,
and his fiancée Anna Margaretha Koch(inn), legitimate first daughter of Johann Paulus Koch, citizen, master builder (?) and landlord/host/innkeeper (which meaning?) at Schwarz….? here
(then information about the bans and the marriage ceremony that I don’t understand)
The numbers at the start of each record seem to have something to do with the order of the records? The year 1828 starts off with the first record being noted as “Jahres No. 1 Etats No. 1”. This seems to continue in sync, i.e. Jahres 2 Etats 2 through Jahres 7 Etats 7…
then the next records are Jahres 8 Etats 1; Jahres 9 Etats 2; then my ancestors, the final marriage in 1828 - Jahres 10 Etats 3.
Clearly the year number is the order of the year’s records, but I don’t get what the Etats numbers mean and why they stop matching the year number towards the end. Not a biggie, but on the birth record I found in this parish, it gave the Etats number next to the Haus number, so it seemed to relate to the house.
Oh, it just dawned on me that Etats might be relating to the number of events for that particular town - like 10th marriage that year for the parish and 3rd marriage for that particular town. And maybe the number next to Haus on the birth was not the address but the birth order, i.e. first child? I'll have to test that out on the other births I'm going to look for in this family.
Thanks for your help,
Elda

Danke, Ulrich, for your help on this!
I love finding out the description of the men in these records (and sometimes about the women), because it gives me an immediate picture of who they were and what they were doing. More than just names and dates!
