19th Century German Ship description: CL & RT?
Hello,
I am researching an immigrant passenger ship. There is a German book that has information that I can translate with Google Translate. However, there are a few abbreviations that I can't translate and I don't see an explanation in the book.
In the description for the SIMSON, there is "65 CL/187 RT". I assume RT is [something] tonnage? Anyone know what the CL and RT would stand for?
I also assume the dimensions are being described in meters. "33,9 x 6,7 x 3,3" would be 33.9 m long x 6.7 m wide x 3.3 m deep.
And if anyone else is looking for info on German ships, there's an EXCELLENT series of books by this collector. Dr. Peter-Michael Pawlik: https://www.peter-michael-pawlik.de/home-en.html I was able to find images and full descriptions of several of my immigrant ancestors' passenger ships in his books!

RT means "Registertonne" (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Registertonne), in English "Gross register tonnage": 1 RT = 100 cubic feet.
I am not sure what CL is.
