On the 17th of September 1845 at 8 pm a son was born to the herder Michael Mellek and his wife Anna, maiden name Jacobitz, who was baptized on the 21st of the same month in the church in Bottrow and called Gottlieb Erdmann. Godparents were 1) Erdmann Doogs, a citizen 2) Johann Urbann, "herrschaftlicher Wirth" [ a farmer subject to the local lord], Louise Wraas maiden name Breyhan ( or Boythan), tavern keeper's wife.
