Research help suggestions?
My great grandfather Johann Wolkenmuth (LZG1-BYB) was born 24 March 1861 in Tuckelhausen, Wurzburg, based on his marriage record (attached below) for him and my great grandmother. I have had no luck finding any info on his parents Nicolaus Wolkenmuth and Waldpurga Gessner. Several years ago a German speaking missionary at the FSL tried to help, and gave me the emails of 3 churches in the area to write to. 1 never answered, and the other 2 said "no records found."
I have a friend with an Archion account who has offered to check on that website, but she needs to know the best options in which to search. Can anyone offer any suggestions, please?

Hi,
On this website they suggest that Tückelhausen should be in the church books from "Herchsheim" on archion.
Hopefully you'll find something there.

Hi @lorraineanderson1 My first thought was to check for any possible siblings who may have also immigrated. A quick check of the NYC vital records shows a probable sibling for your Johann Wolkenmuth.
Barbara Wolkenmuth, daughter of the same parents, married in NYC in 1889. Her marriage record lists her place of birth as Tickenhausen [sic], Ochsenfurt, Bavaria.https://a860-historicalvitalrecords.nyc.gov/view/8055910
Having 2 siblings to search for in the same location can make it easier to confirm you have the correct family. Best of luck with your search.

Hi @Áine Ní Donnghaile, thanks for your response. I know about Johann's sister Barbara, through my 2nd cousin who is her great granddaughter. We connected through FS several years ago and shared research documents. She has had no luck either, and her genealogical research skills far surpass mine. We have even tried alternate spellings of Wolkenmuth to no avail. Very frustrating! We keep hoping that more records will surface at some point.

And I have some additional information: the diocese of Würzburg has its own archive and they seem to have catholic church books from Tückelhausen. Unfortunately I couldn't see online which years they have. So in case your Wolkenmuth family turns out to have been catholic, this would be the place to contact.
