Assenheim Hessen, baptism in 1783, Kopp family, transcription help
The records in Hessen for this Kopp family contain a lot of really helpful details. The entries that are in a paragraph format are a bit difficult to read and translate, so I would appreciate help to fill in the blanks in my transcription and translation of the baptism for Anna Margaretha, daughter of Johann Jacob Kopp and Catharine Marie in Assenheim Hessen, year 1783, entry 9. Also, make corrections as needed. The image is from microfilm, so there is no URL.
Questions:
I know from the marriage entry of the parents Johann Jacob Kopp and Catharine Marie that the mother's maiden name is "E(h)wald". I don't see her maiden name mentioned in the baptismal entry. Is that right?
Is the first name of the witness Casper and what is the surname?
In the margin note, could the words (after the death date) just be referring to where the death entry for Anna Margaretha is found i.e. page number etc.?
Any help is appreciated.
Debra

Hi Debra,
you are right. The maiden name is not mentioned.
I read:
den 13t[en] Novembr [1783] Abend um 10 Uhr ist dem Burger u[nd] Schrein[e]r Johann Jacob Kopp ?iggz uxori Catharine Marie eine Tochter Zur Welt geboren [worden is crossed out] und den 16t[en] dieses [Monats] [ist solche is crossed out] Zur h[eiligen] Taufe gebracht worden, den Nahmen hat sie empfangen Von Casper Pauls Töchterlein Anna Margaretha
The death of Anna Margaretha Kopp is very difficult to read. Maybe 7 Jan 1814 ?
Hope I could help
Burk

Hi Burk,
Your additions and corrections to the transcription are very helpful and when I used an online translator, the meaning of the translation makes sense now, including the part about the naming of the child. Thank you so much!
I couldn't really figure out the death year for Anna Margaretha Kopp either and forgot to mention that I had found a possible death entry for her in the year 1864 in Assenheim. So that's how I got the death year of 1864, which I think is right.
