Request for help translating a marriage record from 1880
Hello,
I have translated part of the marriage record for August Kamradt and Eleonore Henriette Behnke, my great great grandparents, but I am hoping that someone may be able to help fill in some of the gaps.
The following are my most urgent questions:
- Does the marriage record state where my great grandparents were born? If so, where were they born?
- Does the marriage record list Henriette's father?
- What, if anything, does the marriage record say about Henriette's relationship to Frederich Tharo? (I know he married Henriette's mother, but I don't know anything else.)
Here is what I have managed to translate so far:
Mirchau at the 2nd of May eighteen hundred thousand eight hundred
Before the undersigned registrar appeared today for the purpose of Marriage:
1. the worker/laborer August Wilhelm Kamradt
according to personality [am known?],
evangelical religion, born September second of the year one thousand eight hundred
fifty-four at Karrzemke (Karczemke?)
district Lauenburg, resident [to?] Strissabuda (Strysza Buda?).
Son by the late [shoemaker?] Carl
and Caroline, born Hebel - Kamradt.
[married couple?] resident [??]
[at Praéteschin?] District Neustadt.
2. the Eleonore, Henriette Behnke
[according to personality am known?],
evangelical religion, born the twelfth
of December of the year one thousand eight hundred
fifty-five at Kositzkau (Kożyczkowo?)
district Carthaus, resident of Strissabuda.
Daughter by Caroline Behnke, now married
[??] Tharo, resident of Strissabuda.

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide!

You did quite well with your translation! The old German office lingo is sometimes difficult to translate verbatim; I've tried to make it more readable in English.

The record continues on the second page with the witnesses, the declaration of the registrar about the marriage, and the signatures.
To your questions:
- August Wilhelm Kamradt was born in Karczemke (https://www.meyersgaz.org/place/10929020), Eleonore Henriette Behnke in Kositzkau (https://www.meyersgaz.org/place/11047036).
- No, Henriette's father is not listed; she was probably born illegitimately.
- From this document it can only be concluded that Henriette's mother married a man with the name Tharo (after the birth of Henriette). Nothing is said about his relation to Henriette.
