Yes, the child in this record is Jost Wilhelm, which is definitely a male name, but he is identified as a daughter in the record itself.

Translation:

Greifenstein, on the 5th of December [1729] both spouses/the married couple Anthon [Anton] Metz and his wife Christina had a young daughter baptized who was born on the 27th of November [1729]. Baptismal sponsors were Jost Henneman and Jost Henrich Canz's wife _________________? Wilhelm Daniel, Elisabetha Ulmer; the child was called Jost Wilhelm.

I found his marriage and confimation plus some children--definitely a son.

This couple had eleven (11) children up to the year 1752. ( marriage in 1724--thats a lot of years having children and the wife not dying in childbirth) I have found no deaths but the first child. Couple of son marriages but no daughters. Still looking for parents deaths.

These baptismal records actually begin with the German phrase "beide Eheleute" = both spouses. This sounds odd to me so I've been using translating the phrase as "the married couple". Do you have a preference which phrase you would prefer when I translate these baptismal records, Trish?

I think I prefer "the married couple". I will add this "beide Eheleute" to my vocab list.
