George Needens was born in 24 September 1873 in Kraft, Russia. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Kraft by Pastor Johannes Schneider. In 1898 he married Anna Elizabeth Loose. The marriage was blessed with 4 sons. His wife preceded him in death in 1937. The Needens family came to this country in 1905, where they first lived in Michigan and then Wisconsin, before they came to Ft. Morgan in 1908. Here they became members of the Christus Congregational Parish - among the first on the membership rolls. For several years the deceased served as clerk of the parish and his talent lay in singing, which he used to honor God. He loved and diligently attended worship services and meetings. For many years he enjoyed good health, but in the last few years he suffered [from an illness] that caused him much pain. He died of a heart attack at the age of 83 years, 7 months, and 10 days. Grieving his demise are 4 sons: David Needens in Denver, Victor Needens in Brush, and George and Daniel Needens in Denver; 17 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren, and many friends. May Jesus comfort the grieving with His words: See, I am with you always!
