Would appreciate help with this death record
Hello
Could you please fill in the details on this death record? Top right. I know it is for Johann Caspar Vogt died on 12 February 1761 and lived 2 weeks and 3 days. I know his father is Jacob Vogt and he lived in Schnaitberg. I know I missed other info in here. Mother mentioned?
Thank you kindly.
Loretta

Thank you very much. Quick question the father was Vogt though sometimes i have noticed they add “en” to the men’s last name. Is that sort of like the “in” added on the end of the females?

I noticed the "en" on the end of "Vogt" as well.
That's a very good question, Loretta. I don't the answer.
Perhaps you should ask the community at large using this record as an example. I would be interested in seeing what the experts say.

Robert,
I found out from Charlotte at the FHC that the "en" can be a genitive ending. So like the "in" for feminine. Not always, but it can be used, we just have to watch the records and see what is used consistently. She said " It is different from the feminine ending in that the -en ending is case-specific (genitive), whereas the feminine -in ending is gender-specific (but not case-specific)."
I know this helped me.

Thank you for sharing that information, Loretta. That's good to know for future reference.
I would then revise my translation of Johann Caspar's 1761 death record from yesterday to the following:
On the 12th of February 1761, died Johann Caspar, the legitimate little son of Jacob Vogt, farmer and subject of the city of Aalen, on the Schnaitberg, age 2 weeks, 3 days.
Comment: I removed the suffix "en" from the father's surname.
