@Ulrich Neitzel, Thank you for translating this record. I looked up "Braunsberg" in Meyers Gazeteer and found 11 references to the place where Carl Babbel is buried. Do you know which might be the correct one?
I was looking for more records for Gottlieb Carl Babbel , born 23 May, 1819, parents from Almenhausen, parish Puschdorf, when I found the record that you translated for Carl Babbel. The record says he is from Gross Jaegersdorf. I could not find the distance between Puschdorf and Gross Jaegersdorf, but because the district is Insterburg for both, Is it possible that these two individuals could be the same person? (Even though the birth record is Gottlieb Carl and the Death just says Carl?

Hello Nancy,
when you filter the results for Braunsberg by "Preussen(Ostpreussen)" there are only 2 locations left: Braunsberg 6) is a very small place/estate, Braunsberg 3) is a county seat with a "Füsilier Batallion", so this is apparently the right place.
Puschdorf and Gross Jaegersdorf are about 3 miles apart (https://www.meyersgaz.org/place/10642036, then click on the "Ecclesiastical" tab; Puschdorf is the second entry in the list of places). It seems that Gross Jaegersdorf had no own church or parish.
The role of first names (given names) was/is different in Germany compared to the U.S. Any of the given names may be used as "calling name", so it is well possible that Carl was the commonly used given name for Gottlieb Carl Babbel.
While there are several indications that the death record and the birth record may refer to the same person there is no final proof, in particular since the birth date (or the exact age at death) is missing in the death record. So you should be careful in your conclusion.
