Could someone try to translate this baptism record?
I really use some help translating this baptism record. It is a 1658 record. I have tried to enlarge it and darken it. It can also be seen on the archion link I attached. I know the mother is Anna Elisabeth whose name is not written on the record. Perhaps family names are on the witness/godparent section. This is what I can decipher:
Johan ???? Father is Johan Adam Giess Birth 14 November??
thank you

Hello Trish,
I'll share what I am able to decipher and perhaps others will join in.
The child is: Johan Ebert.
The date is: 14 November.
Originally a different surname for the father, Johan Adam, was written which begins with the letter "H". Later "Giess?" was inserted (with the question mark included in the insertion -- so whomever inserted this wasn't completely sure about the "Giess").
The first sponsor appears to be: Johan Ebert Kammerdiener. Kammerdiener may be a surname but it also can be an occupation = valet.
Other names in the sponsor column which I can decipher are Catharina Juliana and Meister Conrad Schreiner.
Other words I see in the sponsor column are the occupations "Schuhmacher" (shoemaker) and "Kammermagd" (chamber maid or maid).

Hello Trish,
I do see the place name "Herborn" in the sponsor column. The fifth line reads:
Meister Conrad Schreiners von Herborn . . .

Thank you Robert. With the three children I have found with these parents it has been very difficult to decipher the sponsor records. A marriage record was not found in this location so it leads to assume they relocated here in Greifenstein. Names deciphered on the two other children only gave a first name and "lady' plus locations as Diterhof? and Herborn.
No idea where to go from here. A sister to this Johan Ebert is my line I have followed forward.
Much appreciation Robert.
