Translation Help - Damme, Oldenburg Baptism
Good evening,
Would one of you generous folks mind helping me with a translation? I believe this could possibly be who I've been searching 3 years for. The writing is pretty clear but would like an unbiased translation, especially the names in the record. I'm hoping the last name is Korte, but it appears to be Kotte. Thank you in advance!

The name is Kotte, unfortunately. Here is the translation:
[born] 22 June, [baptized] 25 June
Kotte, Maria Elisabeth Catharina
Parents: Johann Heinrich Bernard Kotte and Anna Maria Elisabeth Börger in Coors Leibgunst at Rottinghausen
Sponsor: Catharina Maria Kotte
Witnesses??: Elisabeth Thale and Bernard Heinrich Börger

Ulrich,
Thanks for taking a look and for the translation. It unfortunately looked like Kotte to me as well.
I'm looking for an Elizabeth Korte, born 22 June 1839. The cemtery record I have (Cincinnati, OH) indicates she was born in Damme, Oldenburg, as was her husband Bernard Stricker. I was able to find his birth record in Damme, but not Elizabeth if this isn't the correct one.
Do you have any other ideas of where I should look?

There is a possibility that they were not from the same town. I see that according to the civil records the marriage was performed by the Catholic Priest of Saint Philomena Church in Hamilton County Ohio. Try to find out if church records might be available for the marriage. Those might contain parents names and town of birth.
Have you looked into whether she immigrated with other family members? There is an Eliza Korte of the right age (half way between the years of birth given for Elizabeth in the 1870 and 1880 census) with her mother Elizabeth Korte in the 1860 census, both from Oldenburg.

Thanks for the comment! I do have the marriage record from St. Philomena, but it is not legible. I'm going to see if I can get a better copy.
I do have that census record record, but have not looked into the older Elizabeth Korte yet. Now that the Damme church records have come up short, I will definitely look into finding the town via that angle.
