England and Wales Birth and Death Records
In case you haven't seen the good news, the GRO is now offering instant access to certain years of birth and death records, for a lower fee. £2.5 instead of £7/£11. See: https://www.whodoyouthinkyouaremagazine.com/news/gro-digital-image-birth-death-records/

If only there could be cheaper rates for marriage records - I just paid £14 for one, and it's not due for dispatch until the end of the month! (Admittedly, "only" £11 if I'd have known the GRO reference - which isn't available from any other online source in this case.)
Nevertheless, thanks for the very useful advice on the birth / death records, Ann.

I know - there are a few marriages I need to complete a family and no joy there. Did you see Peter's "Lost Cousins" column on the same? https://www.lostcousins.com/newsletters2/jul23special.htm
I will say the few I've ordered for post dispatch came more quickly than expected.

Thanks for the link, Ann. I fear that spending more than I would have in the past will prove to be an issue for me, too!
Disappointingly (especially from the perspective of being a UK resident) the last couple of certificates I ordered took well over the time-frame mentioned - although, to be "fair", one appears to have have got lost in transit - replacement sent immediately by 1st class post after reporting, though!
