Translation request and clarification of location from Alswede PR
For this christening entry (#9 in 1714), I have several questions that I am hoping you can answer --
- could you please correct any of the transcription that I have made?
9.) XXX [18 Febr]
das Hüster Schepers ü. fr. fraunen ehelich kindt sein freÿer leüte, gefattern, patruns? von Holtzhaüsen, dir Nahebrandsche von Holtzhaüsen, Christine
: Anna Christine
- Could you please translate?
- I tried looking up Holtzhausen in https://www.meyersgaz.org/, but there were a lot and I couldn't pin down which might have had people that would go to Alswede PR. I'd appreciate your ideas.
Thanks so much!

Some minor edits in bold:
des Hüffer(?) Schäfers u[nd]. s[eine]r. Frauen ehelich kindt. sein freÿer leüte, gefattern, patruns? von Holtzhausen, die Nahebrandsche von Holtzhausen, Christine
I am unsure about the father's name or occupation. The word is very clearly Schäfer(s), not Schepers. Schäfer can be both, a (sur)name or an occupation (shepherd). Hüster/Hüffer is not a first name I know of; it could be a place name. Note that this record is the only where the article des is used before the father's designation which also suggests that the following words are not a name (Child of the shepherd from Hüffe?). Hüffe is an estate near Alswede (https://www.meyersgaz.org/place/10855061)
So my tentative translation is:
The legitimate child of the shepherd from Hüffe and his wife. [They] are free people. Sponsors Patruns? aus Holtzhausen [und] Christine Nahebrand aus Holtzhausen.
The location is possibly Holzhausen (https://www.meyersgaz.org/place/10836029), 3 miles south of Alswede.

Thank you so much! All of the very small, but important, missing or added letters that I had can make all the difference. I will be more creative in my spelling of places such as Holzhausen vs. Holtzhausen -- makes such a difference.
