Alvin Young/Albin Ljung in Worcester MA (b 1880)

I am looking for Albin Julius Ljung, b Sept 1880 in Sweden. In the 1900 Census he is listed as Alvin Young and living with his parents Carl and Nellie in West Boylston Street, Worcester. His date of birth is then incorrectly written as Sept 1870. But in the same census he also appears as a boarder in Thomas Street with the correct date. There is information online that he died in 1951, but without a place of death or source.

Any clues about Alvins/Albins life and whereabouts after 1900 would be much appreciated.

I have looked at many records over the last couple of days. I find it very difficult to find many combinations of forms that coincide with each other. I am sending you what I found. Hopefully, you have more information on dates so you can verify whether these records are pertinent or not. The only death record I could find on Albin is from a Mosaic announcement. You would have to verify whether or not he was a Masson. If what I found is correct on his parents. Then he came to America three years before she did. Unfortunately, there is no child mentioned in the record at all. And she came over in 1884. I do not know what the policies are as far as children go on the records back then.

I also used Google translator to translate Ljung to English and it does not translate to Young. It translates into English as Heather.

Many sites I visited, (that I have access to) also used Young in place of Ljung. I am not familiar with the process of name changes during that time frame. But I researched according to the information you gave me. From all of the different sites I have access to this is all I could find.

The information about the parents corresponds to what I have found in the Swedish sources. Carl Alexander left a couple of years earlier with two of his siblings, and Petronella/Nellie followed in 1884 with children Gerda (1878-1898) and Albin (1880-?). Lillie (1886-) and Edith (1890-1967) were born in Worcester.

You are right that the literal translation of Ljung is "heather", but Young is a convenient solution in the US since Ljung is pronounced Jung in Swedish.

I have identified at least 6 different Albin Young from Sweden in the American sources, but no trace of "my" Albin after the 1900 Census. I suspect the Albin L who died in Norwood in 1959 is Albin Laurentius Y, born 1901 in Boston to Swedish parents.
