Can you post a better picture of the tombstone? It's very difficult to read what's there because of all the shadows.

Very difficult to read the inscribed words.

I'm unable to get a better photo. I'm dependent on the sun alone to create shadowing of the letters.

Are you near the cemetery and can write down what the letters on the side of the tombstone are? Then someone can translate for you. It's just too hard to read from the photo.

This is the best I can do.
O selig___ _n der grosze Tagerschein
Der ____g ihn mit seinem Gott vereinet.
Maybe someone better versed in German can add and/or make corrections.
Thanks to everyone who has tried to figure this out.

Could it be?:
O selig wunder der grosse Tagerschein Der og ihn mit seinem Gott vereinet.
O blissful miracle of the great dawn that unites him with his God.

Another possibility:
O selig wenn der grosze Tag erscheinet
Der ewig ihn mit seinem Gott vereinet
Translation:
O blissful when the great day dawns
That forever unites him with his God

The second translation appears to fit the best. The two unknown words (wenn and ewig) both fit nicely (length-wise) into the missing spaces. The first translation is also very good, but the first word, wunder, appears to be too long and the second word, og, appears to be too short to fit nicely into the space available. Thanks to all for your time and effort, I appreciate the help.
