Russia, Lutheran Church Book Duplicates
Hi,
Images from this collection appear to be in two different places.
I'm understanding my way around this, but I would like to know why it is happening.
Example with a specific image for my great-grandfather's birth record.
Location 1:
I start with https://www.familysearch.org/search/location/continental-europe/russia and then go to https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/1469151. Browse all the mages and drill down through Kherson, Odessa, Freudental, and finally to 1879: Births, marriages, deaths ( 828-14/231). This brings me to 22 images which happen to be pages 603-626. My ancestor is on image 4 of 44, or page 607. Line 30, Friedrich Dick. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-6QD3-NPP?i=3&wc=M6VG-SZ3%3A295801201%2C295941201%2C295941202%2C295840601&cc=1469151
This same image can also be found at another, but similar link as image 456 of 1041: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-6QD3-NPP?i=3&cc=1469151
I'm trying to add these images into my tree and want to cite them correctly. I there a reason for this?
Thanks,
Ted

The url base is the same. The image number is different depending on if you look at the entire film or just a section of the film (item #3 for example). When you drill down as you described, often you can get the a smaller section of film to view. Either way, both are https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-6QD3-NPP. Everything after the ? tells the computer the path you took to get to the image. When citing a record, I usually do not include the information found after the question mark.
The easiest way to attach this as source in the tree is to use the Attach to Family Tree button in the top right corner of the image. https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/can-i-use-an-unindexed-image-as-a-source-in-family-tree

Thank you. At some point 'they' probably re-organized the images on how they are indexed.
