Gros-Réderching, Moselle, France help.
1) I'm just starting to research ancestors from Gros-Réderching, Moselle, France. I have gotten very specific BMD dates from other trees going back as far as 1670. I am seeking to find where online (if they are) the actual church records would be accessed. Can anyone help with the best sources to try?
2) The first ancestor who emmigrated to America (in abt. 1834) was Adam Pascal Rebmann and his family. They came to Eden, Erie,NY. I have searched for immigration records, but have struck out. I was wondering if there would be Emmigration records in France? Also if anyone knows, what would be the most likely port they have used in France.
3) Just a general question on emmigration from France, On passenger lists & emmigration records, did wives usually use their maiden surnames or their married names?

Thank you PaulaAnn, I was able to track down a number of BMD Records through the Moselle Archives. Unfortunately, there is a large gap of missing records for Gros-Réderching from 1717-1764 which has prevented me from getting some records for some older ancestors.
I have been unable to find any immigration/emmigration records for the family who emmigrated from France to the USA (Adam Pascal Rebmann his wife and a number of children. I'll post a family grouping for reference.
I know they came to Eden, Erie, NY (Close to Buffalo, NY and also close to Canada) I know they came sometime between 1830-1840. I have not been able to find any immigration information. It does not appear that Adam ever became a citizen of the US. If anyone can offer any help on the immigration / emmigration of this family, I would certainly appreciate the help - Carl

I went onto my Ancestry account to look for this family. I found them without any problem at all. In fact, several families had them and went back a few generations. I could not find immigration/emigration records on any of the trees. (Sorry to say.) I am going in for surgery next Tuesday, but I have a friend who is rather good at this. I hope your surgery goes well this week, and you will have a speedy recovery.
This family is well documented in both Ancestory and FamilySearch. I have been able to find most all of the actual BMD records in Gros-Rederching except those that are found in the missing years of 1717-1764.
I really would have liked to have gotten a census record, but it seems they don't exist. Maybe someone knows of a second location they may be stored.
I really would like to get a passenger list or emmigration document. I believe they emmigrated in the mid 1830's. But they could have come in via Canada or directly to the USA. I did find 2 naturalization documents for Adam Rebmann, but neither one mentioned a immigration date, port, or ship.
I your friend, or anyone else has any suggestions I would welcome their help or feedback. - Carl

Have you tried the book of Marie-Jose Marchal
It is not available on line but you can contact the Family history Library requesting a search for the name in the index.
