Cursive Translation Help

Hello! I have finally found a breakthrough after endlessly going through every source I can find on my ggggrandfather. I knew that he originated from Syria, and immigrated with his brother around 1900 (don't know which port or exact year yet) and I was always fascinated to figure out exactly what region in Syria he came from, and who his parents were. Looking at the 1930 census, I find this next to Syria, "Beyr--th." Does anyone happen to know what exactly this is? Is it a city, or is it a state/province? He was born in the 1860s if that helps at all. I have also attached the names of the parents in cursive, I am not sure that I am translating them correctly.
