Stake Temple and Family History Consultants--Family History Center
Does anyone know if there has been a policy change in the past five years regarding who may be called to the aforementioned calling? Our center has been without a director for about five years. We all thought it would be closed. The stake presidency said they would not close it. Finally, they have called a couple to have responsibility over the center. Previously, five sisters have served in the calling. Is it now required that a couple be the FHC "director"? I served as the first director and have served off and on as a volunteer and consultant. Just wondering.
Thanks,
Jeana

@Jeana A You can find information about family history center consultants in the Church Handbook. Section 25.3.6. It states: "The stake president assigns one stake temple and family history consultant to oversee efforts in each family history center." No statement is made about couples serving. Typically, if a couple is called, one is officially the T&FH consultant--family history center and the other is an assistant.
Thank you for your service in the family history center. You might reach out to your new leaders and volunteer to help out again.
