San Francisco California
The standardization of San Francisco, San Francisco, California, United States has been changed to just San Francisco, California, United States. The city San Francisco is both a city and a county in California, they do share the same boundaries but the city San Francisco is NOT an independent city.
How does one go about getting it corrected.

Thank-you for bringing this matter to our attention. I have put your request in. You are right. Here is the link to the County Clerk office. https://sfgov.org/countyclerk/
Independent cities should not be confused with consolidated city-counties, such as Denver, Colorado, the City and County of San Francisco, California, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, nor with the Alaskan equivalent, the combined city and borough, such as Sitka. https://familypedia.fandom.com/wiki/Independent_city

I think this has been addressed: Please see the two historical periods for San Fancisco:
https://www.familysearch.org/research/places/?focusedId=11927902 Prior to 1856, the City and County were a child and parent, showing as San Francisco, SanFrancisco.
After 1856 we see the current historical period:
https://www.familysearch.org/research/places/?focusedId=3853449 Here we see the City and County as consoldated, as noted in the Wikipedia artice. In this case because they are consolidated you only see this as San Francisco, California. The place type is listed as a County. The Note and Basic Information explain this.
This is correct now.
