Godparent giving permission for proxy ordinance to be completed
Hello,
I have a friend who is a recent convert to the church who had a godson pass away when he was a teenager a few years ago before she met with the missionaries. I am wondering if she can give permission for her godson's temple work to be completed. She is not a direct family member of the deceased.
If someone could answer this question it would be awesome.
Thank you,
Kaja

Unfortunately, godparent is not someone who could give permission for ordinance work to be completed. According to the Help Article: Do I need permission from a close living relative to do temple ordinances?
- If you are not the spouse or a child, parent, or sibling of the deceased, obtain permission from one of the close living relatives.
- The close living relatives are an undivorced spouse, an adult child, a parent, a brother, or a sister.
Perhaps the family would be willing to allow the ordinance work to be completed?
