Can this group help find information on my fathers adaption records or possibly his birth parents?
My family recently found out my father was adapted as a baby possibly in the Sacramento California area in 1949. He was born on April 25, 1949. He passed away on May 21, 2008. We would really like to find some information on who his biological parents were. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Jarrett Anderson

Let me start by saying I am no expert on California adoptions.
This website suggests that getting his original birth certificate is not likely to be legally possible: https://www.americanadoptionsofcalifornia.com/adoption/adoption-records-ca#:~:text=Are%20adoption%20records%20for%20California,be%20sought%20by%20adult%20adoptees.
So you will need to use DNA. If you, or another close biological relative of your father takes a DNA test with Ancestry.com and/or 23andMe or MyHeritage, there is a good chance you will find his biological parents.
There are various organizations that help adoptees and their relatives find their biological family. I have recently began volunteering for WikiTree Adoption Angels (https://www.wikitree.com/contact/adoption/) If you need help interpreting DNA results, I recommend making an application to the Adoption Angels.

Thank you for your response and thank you for the suggestions. I'm going to look into Wikitree and adaption angels asap. Yes, my sister and I have done the DNA thing with 23andme and we did get the results, but we haven't gotten any info on my father biological family yet.
My mom should have his birth certificate and I will ask her and find out and or get a copy.

Hello Jarrett,
I won't be much help, but wanted to say good luck in your search. Its been a couple of months since your post, have you had any luck with further information?
I appreciate your question as I am in a similar situation trying to figure out adoption information options on a possible paternal father. I too have done DNA.
How is your exploration going? Did you decide to try wikitree?
