As young parents a half-century ago, my wife and I found it helpful to write and review our five-year and ten-year plans. Reflecting on the introduction of the Ward Temple and Family History Plan, I wanted to make a more personalized version.
Using the suggestions in the 11/27/17 blog at www.thefhguide.com/blog/making-family-history, would a new (or even an experienced) temple and family history consultant find it helpful (or at least interesting) to write a brief letter to your future self? A year from now (or shorter or longer), you would read your letter describing how you had motivated yourself to help ward members respond to the discovery experiences and other Family Search motivations that they had received.
Using a computer and an internet connection and www.futureme.org, you would be able to receive your letter in your email a year from now and compare what you wrote to the history. Then, you would follow up by writing a letter to your past self, in order to reflect on the blessings that have resulted and how to make your next future better. Finally, in personalizing the Ward Plan again, would it be helpful to write another brief letter to your future self for the next year?

I'm glad that you appreciated it, Sarah. In an effort to tie things together, I closed my six-month letter with "I strongly encourage you to write a past-self letter today, and begin thinking about writing another future-self letter, while reflecting on your five-year plan and your shared spousal mission statement."
