Christmas break is right around the corner. Give me some great ideas for my kids!
Hello everyone! I have one teen and 3 adult kids in my home. I want to focus on some family history games, meals, activities, etc. to do during the 2-week Christmas Break.
Does anyone have some creative and super fun ideas to share??

I think one way to approach this is connecting talents, skills, interests, etc. that your kids possess to their ancestors or places their ancestors lived. This can be done in many ways, like with food. For example, I have twin nieces that love to cook and bake. So, for Christmas, they are getting cookbook with recipes from around the world. Since the book is divided by country, I'm including stories about their ancestors from that country. You could also point out family favorites from the various ancestral homelands. Food and family can be a winning combination.
Another fun family game that could be played in person or even virtually, is Geneapardy. See my post about it here.
Other "family history" type games for (or adapted) teens and adults, include:
- Wheel of Family Fortune
- Ancestor Kahoot (See an example here.)
- Record Quest
- Ancestor Challenge
- Famous Relatives (always interesting to see who and how you're related)
Another idea is to play (or event create your own) virtual escape room. See more information here.
You can find more fun ideas on this group's resources page here.
Let us know what you decide on and how it goes! 😀
