Help with translation of a document
The document comes, I believe, from a family register in 1841 from Altenbreitungen, Germany. I can read some of it but, most of it is over my head. Thank you to anyone that can help me with this document. Paula Rail

some names are difficult to read because of poor quality of the scan.
Translation:
Dorothea Marie Scharfenberg, née Heller of Altenbreitungen, wife of Johann Nikolaus Scharfenberg, farmer there, died of old age on 22 October [1841 ]at noon after 12 o'clock and was publicly buried on 25 October at 11 o'clock in the morning.
She was born at Altenbreitungen on 22 September 1772 and was married to her above mentioned husband on 25 April 1797. In this marriage the following children were born: 1) Margarethe Elisabeth, born 14 October 1796, died 22 July 1797; 2) Johann Georg, born 4 August 1802, married 6 November 1827 to Anna Maria, née ___ of Altenbreitungen; 3) Katharina Elisabeth, born 29 September 1804, married 19 April 1831 to Johann Ludwig? Zimmermann here; 4) deflowered Maria Elisabeth, born 8 January 1807, married at Wasungen on 30 September 1832 to Christian Richard? Schindler? ; 5) Georg Wilhelm, born 13 March 1809, married 12 February 1833 to Clara? Margaretha ___ of here; 6) Dorothea Maria, deflowered, born 2 December 1811, married Feb. 9, 1840? to Johannes ___ at Altenbreitungen; 7) Johann Thomas, born 29 August 1815, died 1 April 1821.

I don't know the first name. I believe the middle name is Thomas and the last name is Romhild. Thank you for any help with this. Paula rRail

Hello Paula,
it always helps to see the greater context for correctly interpreting a single word. It might be that this is not a name, but the word Meister (master), however then I would expect that this word is preceded by the craft he was a master of. Could you please post the full entry or page?

I still read the word before Thomas Römhild as "Meister". His occupation is given as "Schneider" (tailor), so he might well have been a master tailor. There is no additional forename given for him (In Germany people may have several forenames, but the commonly used may be any of them).

Anna Catharina Römhild, 6. Kind 4. Tochter des Meister Thomas Romhild, Nachbars u. Schneiders zu Altenbreitungen u. seiner Ehefrau Eva Dorothea geb. Leyh von dahier

Pathe war Anna Catharina Leyh des Georg Christian Leyh Nachbars u. Glasers zu Altenbreitungen Ehefrau.

Is it possible to hire you to translate some documents I have? I had a researcher in the early 2000 who did a tremendous amount of work for me on my family in Evangelisch-lutherische Kirche in Thüringen Landeskirchenarchiv Eisenach Schloßberg 4a (Kreuzkirche) 99817 Eisenach Germany. However, I have pages of documents that he pulled information from and created pedigree and family group sheets but I do not have the translation of the documents. Familysearch was not created as we know it now so I am trying to put these documents into family search into memories. I am really tryng to learn the old German handwriting but, I do not know the German language. I usually can get the names but the extra meanings in the documents I am missing. I do not want to abuse your kindness that you have given me so far and would love to hire you or if you know anyone else that would do this service I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much for your exceeding kindness in my effort to connect my family and to learn about them.

Hello Paula,
this group is just meant to help you and others with this type of request. There are volunteers happy to help you and doing translations just for fun. So why don't you post your documents here one by one and see what happens. Other people have got translated tens or even hundreds of records over time. If it gets too much and the translators get tired, you can still offer a paid assignment.

I have a translation request that I need help with. The general information I have is that Johannes martin married Anna Martha Schrenk on 27 November 1825 in Rorshain, Germany. I found the record on archion.de (Evangelischen Kirche von Kurhessen-Waldeck, Ziegenhain, Rorshain, Kirchenbuch 1772-1838, Bild 1051. Johannes' parents were Johannes Martin and Anna Elizabeth Jox. Anna Marth Schrenk's parents were Conrad Schrank and Anna Margaretha whose maiden name I can not read. Thank you for any assistance on this translation.

Johannes Martin, shepherd, unmarried legitimate son of the local shepherd Johannes Martin and his deceased 1st wife Anna Elisabeth née Jox; with
Anna Martha Schrenk, surviving unmarried legitimate daughter of the tailor Conrad Schrenk, deceased in Gross Ropperhausen, and his wife Anna Margarethe née Schmitt, also deceased.

I was surprised to discover that Anna Martha's parents were both deceased. Seeing the village of Gross Ropperhausen is interesting as well since I have other lines having lived there as well.
