After FindARecord.com went away, I've had the dream of reviving it. I took a programming class but found that even after that, the project would be overwhelming to do on my own. Now I am going on my mission soon. I won't be able to work on it.

I was thinking I could ask people here if anybody would like to volunteer to make it? All volunteers could become a team. I could give you my notes and my thoughts on what it could be, and then the team can take it where they want to.

If we don't have any web developers in our midst, we could hire it out, and raise the money to do so by crowdfunding on Indegogo or Kickstarter (or somewhere else).

If you would like to join this team, please comment below. Once we have at least 5-10 people, we can arrange a few zoom meetings to discuss details about what this is and what building it might look like.

For those of you who may not know, FindARecord.com was a site that sifted through your entire family tree on FamilySearch and gave you a list of tasks you could do, such as ordinances (though FamilySearch is no longer allowing applications to do this), possible duplicates, contradictory data, records to attach, and so on.

You can help make this helpful dream a reality!

    As an aside ...

    .

I am "Tagging" this 'Question' of yours, in the 'Group' being "Family & Community—Connect & Inspire!", in this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, to some other specific 'Groups' in the Forum being:

    (1)  "General Questions"; and,

    (2)  "FamilySearch Tips and Tricks"; and,

    (3)  "How Things Work"; and,

for more exposure, to a broader section of the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, in the hope that, the members of those groups may also engage.

    And ...

    Furthermore ...

    .

    For even more exposure ...

    .

Can I humbly suggest that, if, you have not already done so; then, another place to, propose 'Ideas' (eg. suggested enhancements); or, report 'Problems'/'Issues', relating to "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'; or, for that matter, ANYTHING to do with 'FamilySearch') [ such as YOURS ], is in the (New) "IDEAS' ('Feedback') Forum, which is currently, on a separate platform, within this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    .

    Ideas Forum _ latest _ 31 October 2020 _ Add Idea _ circled.

Here is the direct 'link' to that (New) "IDEAS' ('Feedback') Forum:

    https://community.familysearch.org/s/idea/Idea/Default

    .

The (New) "IDEAS' ('Feedback') Forum can also be accessed from the 'Bottom', of just about, any page/screen, through (by accessing) the "Feedback" 'Link'.

    .

Feedback _ Bottom of Landing or Home page or Screen _ 0 _ 7 January 2021.

Where a "Pop-Up" (aka: "Modal") 'Window' will appear ...

    .

Where you select, the "Go to Discussion Board" ('Button'/''link'), under the "Community Discussion".

    .

Feedback _ Bottom of Landing or Home page or Screen _ 2 _ 7 January 2021.

The (NEW) "IDEAS" Forum is MONITORED by "Official 'FamilySearch' Representatives" (eg. Product Managers; and, Engineers/Developers) responsible for the "Design" and "Development" of 'FamilySearch'.

    .

    Give it a go ...

    .

    Nothing ventured, nothing gained ...

    .

    I hope this helps.

@heathermoselletoomey1 heathermoselletoomey1  Another suggestion, if you're not familiar with them, is to check two great resources at BYU that MAY be doing what you've wonderfully designed in your head. And it may be that they'd be interested in pursuing some of the very things you're "dreaming" about! In case they're of interest and help, check out these two resources if you aren't familiar with them:

    https://rll.byu.edu/

    https://familytech.byu.edu/

That 2nd link to the BYU Family History Technology Lab even already has something similar to one of your ideas called "Tree Sweeper" that looks for types of errors in our FamilySearch trees. So they'd potentially be very interested in the kinds of ideas you seem to have, and may already be working on some of them/interested in pursuing them without any outside crowdsourcing, etc. Both resources already have the direct connections to FamilySearch, and are clearly technologically qualified to do what you're envisioning.

Best wishes not only with this, but also on your mission. I love your vision! I'd be surprised if nobody at either of the above resources is interested, because that's their passion as well, and you've got students and even grad students working on such projects requiring no pay to do it! (Just a great "deferred benefit plan" 😁 )

a site like this already exists. go to beta.familysearch.org , and you will find that it is basically the exact same as the normal site. except that the tree is private to you.
