Where can we find indexes for Portuguese church records? I'm looking at https://tombo.pt/d/faro and the images are there, but without a precise date it is impossible to search efficiently.

It depends on the record. Most of this records don’t have indexes, however, if the record you’re looking have an index, it will be in the beginning or in the end of the book you’re searching.
Can your read portuguese? What are you looking exactly?

Thanks for your reply. I have several ancestors from the Faro area, mostly Olhao, who settled in Gibraltar in early 1800s. I was wondering what general strategy to use to get to the information. If some of the books have indexes at the front/back that will be useful. I'm surprised that nobody has published an index in hard copy format. I speak Spanish so I can read Portuguese... unless the handwriting is very bad!
